Before Holy Communion

HEAVENLY Father, Thou art Light and in Thee is no darkness at all; enlighten my mind in the knowledge of Thy will. Thou art Life; send Thy healing power through my body and my soul. Thou art Love; look on me so that my heart may be opened to Thine and every veil between Thee and me be burned away. May I go to Thy Holy Table and partake of Thy Bounty, with a heart purified from sin, with a conscience eased of its guilt. Make my repentance bitter that my love may be strong. Wash me and make me clean that I may worthily receive Thy Son Jesus Christ in the Sacrament of His passion, and be united with Him, that I may abide in Him as the branch abides in the Vine. Be pleased, O Lord, to answer me for his sake. Amen.
