ALMIGHTY and All-loving God, who giveth power to the faint and increaseth strength to him that hath no might; visit in mercy this Thy servant, sunken in deep depression, and made to possess days and nights of misery. Thou knowest this frame of ours, which Thou hast so fearfully and wonderfully made; how its wounds and bruises hurt and weaken the powers of the soul. Out of the depths of weariness and pain and apprehension, Thy servant lifts a cry to Thee for help. Hasten to his succour, O Lord. Turn his eyes from his disordered life to Thee, the source of all order and peace in the universe. Make him to feel that Thou art Soul of his soul. Open his heart that Thy healing forces may find free access and may restore to unity and soundness all the functions of brain and soul. Let a consciousness of Thy love cast out all fear; let a sense of Thy reality and nearness put to flight the spectres of the mind; let the still small voice of Thy Spirit conquer the voices of distrust and self-despair with the glad conviction that out of weakness Thou canst make strong, that underneath and around him are the everlasting arms of Thy compassion. Forgive the sins of the past. Reveal to him the vision of a new future; of a life made free and strong and beautiful in the glory of Thy grace, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
