A litany and prayer sequence from the Lutheran Treasury’s historical collection.

Lord, have mercy, Christ, have mercy! Lord, have mercy upon this sick person! Lord God Father in heaven, Lord God Son, Redeemer of the world, Lord God Holy Ghost, Holy Trinity, eternal God, Have mercy upon him!
Lord, be merciful and save this dying person! From the evil spirit, From the cunning and crafts of the devil, From all ills, From the pains of hell, Preserve him, dear Lord God! By Thy holy incarnation and birth; By Thine agony of death and bloody sweat; By Thy cross and bitter death; By Thy holy resurrection and ascension; By the grace of the Holy Ghost; At his last end; At the last day; At the last judgment; Help him, dear Lord God. We poor sinners beseech Thee to hear us, good Lord, And comfort this sick person; Pardon all his sins; And give him life eternal after this misery; We beseech Thee, to hear us, good Lord! O Christ hear us! O Thou Lamb of God that hath taken away the sins of the world, have mercy upon this dying person and give him eternal peace! O Lord, have mercy! O Christ, have mercy! Lord, have mercy upon him!
OUR FATHER, Who art in heaven; hallowed be Thy name; Thy kingdom come; Thy will be done on earth, as it is in heaven; give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation; but deliver us from evil; for Thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever and ever. Amen!
