ALMIGHTY and everlasting God, who didst make thyself known in ancient times to thy faithful servant Abraham, be pleased to reveal thyself unto us. As obedient children we desire to walk in the steps of his faith, and as heirs of the promise, to look for thy blessing in Jesus Christ our Lord. Come to us as Thou hast promised, and take up thine abode with us. Graciously shed abroad the love of God in our hearts by thy Holy Spirit, that we may love Thee better, and ever be disposed to keep thy commandments. Most unworthy are we to receive such tokens of thy love and mercy. Our sins have deserved thy wrath and condemnation, but Thou hast taught us that Christ is the propitiation for our sins. For His sake impute not iniquity to us, but account us righteous in thy sight.
O most gracious God, send the Spirit of adoption into our hearts, crying, Abba, Father. Cause us to know that we are indeed thy children through faith in Christ Jesus, the seed of Abraham, and heirs according to the promise. Oh, may we ever walk worthy of our high vocation. Save us from falling into any kind of sin; keep us by thy power through faith unto salvation. Thou art our shield and exceeding great reward. Protect us, O God, from all evil, and preserve us in thy fear and love all our lives long. May we stedfastly walk with Thee all the days of our life, ever looking for that blessed hope and the glorious appearing of God our Saviour, who gave himself up for us, and redeemed us from all iniquity.
Pour out upon us the spirit of grace and supplication, that we may never cease to pray, and thus receive thy promised blessing. Help our infirmities, blessed Lord, by thy Holy Spirit, and let us not faint in coming to thy throne of grace. Let no wandering thoughts intrude; let nothing defile our souls and hinder our prayers this day. Do Thou fill us with thy Spirit. Bring every thought and imagination into obedience to thy blessed will, and grant that we may have sweet communion with the Father and the Son.
O gracious God, bless us and our family, our relations and friends, with thy richest blessings in Christ Jesus. May all receive out of his fulness grace for grace.
Let thy way be known on earth, thy saving health among all nations; may all the families in the earth be blessed in Christ according to thy promise. May He be the light of the Gentiles and the glory of thy people Israel.
Receive these our supplications which we present unto Thee this day, not trusting in our own righteousness, but in thy manifold and great mercies, through Jesus Christ, our only Mediator. Amen.
