GRACIOUS art Thou, O God, and blessed is thy name: for Thou dost give us life, and health, and all things. Thou art our God, and we will praise Thee; Thou art our God, and we will exalt Thee.

We give Thee humble and hearty thanks, O merciful Lord, for thy guardian care over us in our goings out and in our comings in. For all our mercies, personal, social, and domestic; for food, and raiment, and shelter; for the preservation of life and health; for every pleasure we have enjoyed, and every mutual affection which has gladdened our homes, we glorify thy goodness, O our God.

We acknowledge, O holy and heart-searching Judge, that we have not deserved any of thy mercies: for we, like sheep, have gone astray. It is of thy mercy only that we are not consumed.

O God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who didst give thine only-begotten Son to make known unto us thy will, and to bear the penalty of our transgressions, mercifully pardon and accept us. O God the Son, who didst humble thyself to the death upon the cross, that Thou mightest purge away our sins, and art now ascended into heaven, cleanse us in thy most precious blood. O God the Holy Ghost, who didst guide the minds of prophets and apostles to write thy Word, open our minds to understand thy will, and prepare our hearts to do it. Blot out as a thick cloud our transgressions, and as a cloud our sins.

Teach us, O Lord, so to number our days that we may apply our hearts unto wisdom. Awaken and ever increase in us an earnest anxiety about the things belonging to our peace, that we may live as strangers and pilgrims who seek another country, even a heavenly. Let us not love the world, nor the things of the world, more than we love Thee. Be Thou alone our strength in life, our hope in death, and our exceeding great reward for evermore.

Send down, we beseech Thee, thy Holy Spirit, to cleanse from our hearts any evil thoughts which may have been suggested to us during the day, either from within or from without. Accept, through Jesus Christ thy Son, whatever sincere love and obedient service thine own grace hath enabled us to render unto Thee, and be not extreme to mark the negligences and ignorances with which they have been accompanied.

To thy protection we commit ourselves and all whom we love. Keep us in peace through the hours of the darkness: and if it be thy pleasure, raise us to see another day; if not, take away the fear of death and receive us into thy kingdom, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
