READ IN HOLY SCRIPTURE EXODUS XI.

O LORD God, the Author and Giver of all good things, we again approach Thee in prayer and praise. Graciously assist us by thy Holy Spirit, that our morning sacrifice may be acceptable in thy sight. We thank Thee, O God of our life, for thy preserving care and for refreshing sleep; help us to devote ourselves and all that we have to Thee, which is our reasonable service; and may thy good providence watch over us during this day, protecting us in danger, guiding us in perplexity, and mercifully supplying all our need. We acknowledge ourselves, O Lord, to be unworthy of thy regard, and to be exposed to thy just displeasure, because we have sinned against Thee, violating thy righteous law, rejecting thy Gospel, and grieving thy Holy Spirit. Have mercy upon us, O God, giving us true repentance, a firm reliance on the atoning death of thy Son, and that full and free pardon offered in thy blessed Word. We pray also that the promised Comforter may dwell within us, and bear witness to our acceptance through Christ; and thoroughly sanctify our nature, so that we may perfectly love and worthily magnify thy holy name. Write thy precious Word in our heart. May our lives be so regulated by its precepts that we may please Thee in all things, and escape the judgments which Thou hast denounced against the ungodly. Look, gracious Father, in thy mercy, on those who are dear to us. Watch over them by thy providence. Teach and guide them by thy Holy Spirit, and grant that such of them as are unconverted may be turned from darkness to light, and delivered from the bondage of sin and Satan into the glorious liberty of the children of God. [We supplicate Thee also for the younger members of this family. To them also give thy grace, and draw them to Christ their Saviour.]

We pray also, O Lord, for thy Church throughout the world. Give peace and unity to thy people, fill thy ministers with wisdom and grace, clothe their word with power, and let all thine ordinances be seasons of refreshing from thy presence. We pray Thee to subvert all deadly errors, vanquish and overturn all opposition to thy truth, and let thy kingdom come with power and great glory. Hear us, O Lord, for our beloved country. Turn away ungodliness from our people, and bring them to the knowledge of thy salvation. Favour us with prosperity in our commerce and trade, direct our legislators into all truth, and give wisdom, equity, and mercy to our magistrates. Be gracious to our beloved Queen, and to all the Royal Family; and let thy compassion be extended to all mankind, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
