O LORD, teach us to pray. We bless Thee for our creation, preservation, and for all the blessings of this life; but above all, for our redemption, the redemption of our bodies and souls, by Christ Jesus our Lord. Oh, grant us thy grace to walk as thy redeemed ones. May we this day and ever remember that we are bought with a price, and that we are not our own. Set our souls free from every evil thing, and especially from that sin which doth so easily beset us. Baptise us afresh with the Holy Spirit, and enkindle within us a fervent love and holy zeal for thy name. May we have grace to be faithful to our high and holy calling. O Lord, hold Thou us up, and then we shall be safe. Receive us, O Lord, as Thou hast promised, and be a Father unto us for ever. Bless this whole family. Make it thy family. Be Thou our Father and our God. Make every heart thine own. Let not one of us be a stranger to Thee. May thy holy Word dwell richly in our hearts, and may we adorn it in our daily walk and conversation. May we live as pilgrims in the earth.
O Lord, strengthen us this day for all the duties, responsibilities, and trials of faith to which Thou shalt call us. May we not faint nor be weary in well-doing. Make us feel thy strength in our weakness. In the hour of difficulty and perplexity do Thou guide us. In the hour of temptation and danger do Thou deliver us. Leave us not a moment to ourselves. Safely guide us by thy counsel, and after our race is run receive us into glory.
O blessed Redeemer, may we experience the sanctifying efficacy of thy precious atonement this day. Sprinkle our consciences afresh with thy purifying blood. Give us thy peace, which the world can neither give nor take away.
We commend to thy guardian care, O Lord, our beloved Queen and our country. Oh, bless and sanctify to thy service all the Royal Family. Make this nation a holy people. Teach us to prize thy favour above all riches, and all honour, and all glory. Grant that we may be made a blessing in the earth. O Lord, we would also plead for those who plead for Thee. Bless the ministers of thy holy Word. Make them wise to win souls to Christ. Uphold them in all their laborious works for Thee. Especially bless our own minister. We pray that he may be filled with the Spirit, and that his ministrations may be continually blessed to us and to all his flock. And now, O our Lord, we commend ourselves and all who are dear unto us once more into thy hands; exceed our most fervent desires and petitions, for the sake of Jesus Christ, our blessed Lord and Redeemer. Amen.
