For the Empire and Nation

For the Empire and Nation

O LORD, All Sovereign and Merciful, look down in Thy mercy upon our Church and Realm, especially upon those to whom Thou hast given the trust of high office, that they may do their duty as unto Thee and not unto men. Bless the great Council of the Nation (and those who are called upon to elect its members). Direct the course of this world in peace. Watch over our Church and Empire throughout the world. Preserve us from civil strife, and knit the hearts of our brethren in the Colonies and in India to the hearts of those who remain at home. Give honesty, truthfulness, strength, and wisdom to those who govern; and grant us grace willingly to do our part in supporting them in their great work for Thee; through Jesus Christ our King. Amen.
