A Prayer for Sunday Evening
O ALMIGHTY Father, we Thine unworthy children present ourselves before the footstool of Thy mercy, beseeching Thee to forgive us the manifold sins, negligences, and ignorances of which we have been guilty on this day. Pardon our want of zeal in Thy service, the coldness of our hearts, and the wandering of our thoughts. We bless Thee, O Father, for the opportunities Thou hast given us of serving Thee, and pray Thee to give us and all hearers of Thy Word grace to understand, diligence and attention to consider, and watchfulness to carry into practice, the holy lessons which we, this day, have heard. Let Thy Holy Spirit dwell in our hearts, sanctifying our thoughts, guiding our affections, directing our wills, that we may in all the work of the week glorify Thee, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
