A Missionary Prayer
O LORD our God, Who in the days of Thine Apostles didst pour out Thy Spirit upon Thine handmaidens, and didst enable them to labour much in the Lord, be with all who are labouring in Thy service among the women and children of the East. Keep them under Thy continual protection. Guide, strengthen, and comfort them. Help them to feel and know that Thou art with them. Raise up more such labourers, for the harvest truly is plenteous, but the labourers are few. Gather in more from the heathen and the Mohammedans; give a more abundant increase. Bless all converts from among the women and children of the East. Endue them with constancy. Keep them faithful. Enable them to endure hardness in Thy service. Sustain them in persecution. Cause them to adorn the doctrine, and to grow in grace, and to be faithful in heart and life to Thy glory. Thou knowest all who are in trouble, have compassion upon them, and help them, binding up the broken-hearted, proclaiming liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to them that are bound, giving them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness.
Grant us all, whether at home or abroad, to be faithful in Thy service, without spot and without reproach, until the appearing of our Lord Jesus Christ, to Whom with Thee and the Holy Ghost, be honour and glory, world without end. Amen.
